SIGN Migraine consultation

SIGN Guideline on Migraine: Pharmacological management

National open consultation meeting

Date: 10am-1.00pm, Thursday 15th June 2017
Location: Royal College of Physicians, 9 Queen St, Edinburgh EH2 1JQ

The Scottish Intercollegiate Guidelines Network (SIGN) is producing a new guideline on the pharmacological management of patients with migraine, due for publication in early 2018. The draft guideline considers the evidence for acute and preventive pharmacological therapies for patients with migraine, along with devices therapies.

The guideline recommendations are based on a systematic review of evidence and have been developed by a multidisciplinary group with representation from across NHSScotland.

The SIGN guideline development group needs your feedback on the content and draft recommendations to ensure they are relevant and implementable in your area. This consultation meeting will provide an overview and an opportunity for discussion of the draft guideline, including:

  • guideline remit and aims
  • patient experience
  • pharmacological management of acute migraine
  • pharmacological prevention of episodic and chronic migraine
  • Botulinum toxin A
  • medication overuse headache.

The open meeting will be of interest to healthcare professionals in primary and secondary care who manage patients with migraine, pharmacists, patients and carers.
