Improving nutritional care

"Malnutrition continues to affect over three million people in the UK at significant cost [exceeding £13 billion annually]. It is the most fundamental thing we have to get right but is not always seen as the priority it should be."

Ros Moore, Chief Nursing Officer, 2010

Improving nutrition, improving care

Healthcare Improvement Scotland has recently completed an 18 month national improvement programme into nutritional care.

Focusing particularly on frail elderly people, our Improving nutrition, improving care programme report sets out the advancements that are underway in our health boards now. Along with the steps that Scotland continues to take to ensure our nutritional care work across the country is integrated and aligned.

The NHS in Scotland is on a continuing journey towards reliable systems and processes and nutrition remains a national priority.
