Background
This best practice statement is intended to support nurses
caring for people who have had an acute stroke. This statement and
the accompanying quick reference guide sets out to assist nurses,
as part of the multidisciplinary team, to be alert to the presence
of pain, and take steps to manage it, particularly where
communication may be difficult.
