Assessment Report 2010 (001)

Evidence-based assessment report 2010/001

This evidence-based assessment report was considered by SHTG on 23 February 2010. Of particular note is the report from on computer-navigated total knee arthroplasty. After reviewing the evidence, this report concluded that although computer navigation improved postoperative mechanical axis alignment of the knee, there is insufficient evidence to support the claim that reducing the rate of knee malalignment will decrease total knee arthroplasty revision rates.

For the first time, the report also contains four summaries of health services research methodology papers, including one on association between volume and outcome in surgery.
