Royal Alexandra Hospital announced inspection August 2010

Royal Alexandra Hospital, Paisley, is a general hospital with approximately 722 beds. The hospital provides a range of acute and associated clinical services.

We carried out an announced inspection visit to Royal Alexandra Hospital on Tuesday 24 and Wednesday 25 August 2010.

We assessed the hospital against the NHS QIS HAI standards and inspected the following areas:

  • accident and emergency department
  • ward 1 (haematology/general medicine)
  • ward 4 (elderly care)
  • ward 10 (diabetes/endocrinology)
  • ward 18 (gynaecology)
  • ward 20 (ophthalmology/ENT)
  • ward 22 (orthopaedic)
  • ward 24 (general surgery)
  • ward 28 (urology).

This inspection report highlights areas of strengths as well as areas for further improvement, including recommendations for actions
