Background to learning session 8

To-date SPSP has organised 8 Learning Sessions. These events have proved vital to the success of the programme, in particular encouraging and motivating staff already involved in SPSP, as well as staff working on newer patient safety workstreams such as Paediatrics and Primary Care. The events are entitled “learning sessions” for good reason!

Based on the ‘all teach all learn’ principle these events are designed to expose every person that attends to both tested interventions and to the individuals that have been learning their own way through that process.

Everyone comes away with an action plan – ‘What are you going to do by next Tuesday?”

What’s involved?

Learning Session 8 was broken down in to 2 entirely separate consecutive days. Day one focused on supporting the experienced improver and day 2 focused on those new to improvement, or those needing to refresh their improvement skills or build on them further.

The event delivered motivational plenary sessions, workstream specific breakout sessions and NHS board planning sessions (where NHS boards meet together as a group).
